A long page needs a way in. Without one a reader cannot tell whether what they came for is in there, and leaves. Table of Contents builds that way in from what you already wrote. Drop it on the page and it reads the headings — H2 and H3 by default, your choice otherwise — and lists them in order, nested as the page is. Rewrite a heading and the list changes with it. It suits any long page: a guide, a price list, a policy page. The links are real links. A heading with no anchor gets one made from its own words; one you already anchored is never rewritten, so shared links keep working. Clicking an entry moves the reader, not only the page: the heading itself takes focus, so keyboard and screen-reader users carry on in the right place. What it does not do: write your headings, index other pages, or translate them — the widget and panel are in twelve languages; your headings stay yours. Below a minimum you set it renders nothing, not an empty box. The optional sticky column needs a column beside the article, overflow:hidden on an ancestor disables it, and under 760px it switches off. Nothing loads from anyone else, no data is collected, and it is free — no limits, no account.
